Is it just me or what?

Hi, i'm new I downloaded client and wanted to start playing, as soon as it downloaded, i entered my log-in details and waited for it to log in, it doesn't log in, and is having problems, i can't see my character, nor any other player, a black screen display's with only the mini-map on the screen, and after 2 seconds it returns to log-in screen. :'/ please fix this, i really want to play.
